Ayşe, Ali, Mehmet and Zeynep are middle-class millennials struggling to make ends meet in Istanbul. Either still living with their parents or hardly getting by without help from their families, they are all beset by similar woes: money crunch, joblessness, social isolation. In view of the world’s horrors that Zeynep enumerates in her diary entries, these are minor problems, ‘slight disasters’, but they are all-consuming, at least to the extent of making them cry in the still of the night. However, Umut Subasi’s first feature, Almost Entirely a Slight Disaster, is not a melodrama. With an appealingly light touch, it diagnoses the malaise of a generation that has run up against a dead end, one whose future prospects are indistinguishable from a game of chance. This is a world where astrology, the lottery and online personality tests compete with visa and job applications as life-shaping elements. Fittingly, the film is structured around chance and coincidence, with its handful of characters encountering each other in every permutation, as though there were no world outside this small social bubble. 夜色沉沉的东京新宿站，劳碌一天的人们依旧行色匆匆，仿佛从不知停歇的工蜂。然而却有一群正处在青春期的女孩绽放着无忧无虑的笑容。她们身穿着不同款式的校服，似乎早已约好一般同时来到这里，女孩们在月台前一字排开，手拉手齐齐跳向飞驰而来的列车。一时间血光四溅，54个鲜活的生命瞬间消失。 这一事件轰动全国，与此同时类似集体自杀的事件愈演愈烈，甚至连调查此案的警官黑田敏春（石橋凌 饰）及其家人也受到波及。黑田的搭档涉泽健次（永瀬正敏 饰）通过不懈的调查，发现一连串的自杀事件都和一个名为“自杀俱乐部”的网站有关。事件的真相究竟如何？惨剧最终能否终止？
